Lee & Associates Promotes Scardino to Principal

Lee & Associates has promoted Rick Scardino to principal in the firm's Chicago office.

Scardino, an expert in retail brokerage in the Chicago market and 26-year industry veteran, founded Lee & Associates' retail platform back in 2010.

Prior to joining Lee & Associates, Scardino served as the president of Affinity Commercial Real Estate, a boutique brokerage firm that he founded in 2003. He also spent nine years as a broker with the former Grubb & Ellis.

Scardino is a graduate of Bradley University.


Hawryluk Joins iCORE Global

iCore Global, a leading CRE consortium spanning 272 major cities with more than $47.5 billion in annual transactions, appointed Michael Hawryluk to managing principal in its new Chicago office. He will be responsible for growing the office through local, national and international brokerage services.

Hawryluk has more than 12 years of commercial real estate brokerage experience, mostly in the Chicago area, and has dealt primarily with landlord and tenant representation. He spent most of his career servicing private and public corporations from family-owned companies to large institutional REITs and occupiers.

Hawryluk is a graduate of Arizona State University, where he earned bachelor's degrees in business and city planning.

PMB Promotes Two Execs

Pacific Medical Buildings (PMB) has promoted Jake Rohe as a partner and senior vice president of development, and Ben Ryan to chief financial officer and vice president of operations.

Rohe has played a major role in the company’s development projects with a focus on outpatient healthcare real estate development. Since joining PMB in 2005, Rohe has been instrumental in the completion of over one million square feet of healthcare related properties. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and he has managed development projects from the inception to occupancy. Prior to joining PMB, Rohe worked at Voit Real Estate in Orange County.

Ryan joined PMB in 2011 after spending six years as a tax consultant with RPR Partners. He will manage the day-to-day financial operations of the company and oversees the financing and loans for all of PMB’s projects as well as handling the financial statements and tax matters for the company and its related entities. Ryan is a California certified public accountant.


Saunders & Stephens Join Phoenix Realty Group

Phoenix Realty Group, a national real estate owner, operator and fund manager, has hired R. Alex Saunders and Leslie Stephens to its Los Angeles office. The pair will fill the roles of managing director and assistant vice president, respectively.

Saunders will be responsible for directing the firm’s acquisitions group in the western region. Saunders currently holds the position of an adjunct professor in the MRED program at the University of Southern California, but was one of the original co-founders of the LA office in 2003.

Stephens will be involved with the firm’s western region asset management group. Stephens has been involved in asset management for over 17 years with a focus on operational issues and value added-renovations to investment properties in the western region.


Sciullo Joins CBRE's National Retail Investment Group

Ryan Sciullo joined the national retail investment group at CBRE as a first vice president.

Sciullo will partner with Gary Lawrence and Bill Kent to formulate marketing strategies for the team's portfolio and strengthen rapport with clients.

Previously, Sciullo spent eight years as a member of the CBRE investment properties private capital group in Pittsburgh.

Sciullo holds a bachelor's of science in finance and accounting from the University of Maryland and a Juris Doctor Degree and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.


DTZ Expands Tampa Brokerage Operations

Russ S. Sampson and John P. Esposito (pictured, right) have joined DTZ, a leading global property services firm, as senior vice presidents in the firm's Tampa Bay office.

Sampson brings 35 years of experience, having previously founding Sage Corporate Advisors where he served as principal. Before that he was executive vice president and director of brokerage services at Colliers Arnold. He has also held senior-level positions at Insignia/ESG, Echelon, Studley, and Cushman & Wakefield, and has negotiated more than six million square feet in commercial transactions throughout his career.

Esposito is a tenant representation specialist, having served as corporate managing director of the Tampa and Miami offices of Studley. Before that he served as vice president at Carter & Associates, having achieved strong results for corporate and law firm clients.

Also joining DTZ Tampa Bay is Bobby Sampson, who previously served as an associate at Sage. He will focus on tenant representation in the local industrial sector.


Olsen Joins Trammell Crow

Kirk Olsen has joined Trammell Crow Company's Portland Business Unit as a senior vice president. In his new role, Olsen will source and oversee new office and mixed-use development and investment opportunities in the region.

Olsen previously held the position of partner at Dermody Properties, establishing its Portland office in 2007 and overseeing development, asset management and disposition activities in the Northwest region. Before that he worked at Dermody's headquarters.

Olsen serves on the board and is the president-elect of NAIOP's Oregon chapter. He holds an MBA from Vanderbilt University and received his bachelor's degree at Washington and Lee University.


NAI MLG Promotes Schmoldt to VP

Kevin Schmoldt has been promoted to vice president at NAI MLG Commercial, a leading commercial real estate firm in Wisconsin.

Schmoldt joined the firm in 2007 as an intern, and became a broker associate in 2009 where he cultivated landlord, tenant and investor relationships.

"Kevin’s impressive track record makes him a natural choice for this position," said Brian Vanevenhoven, principal at NAI MLG Commercial. "Our focus on building relationships is fundamental to our culture, and Kevin has consistently demonstrated his ability to connect with clients by understanding their business challenges and providing the right solutions."


Silen Joins E&Y's CREAS Practice Group

Steve Silen has joined Ernst & Young's Construction and Real Estate Advisory Services (CREAS) practice as a senior manager in the firm's Irvine, CA office.

In his new role, Silen will oversee the group's practice for the western US, assisting clients with portfolio rationalization, site analysis, strategies, operating model design, occupancy cost reduction and outsourcing, as well as process improvements and risk mitigation and control.

Silen previously was a leader at KPMG's real estate and facilities management advisory practice and held senior real estate and facilities management positions at Pfizer and BP. He is a graduate of Drexel University.


NGKF Capital Markets Names New Director

Newmark Grubb Knight Frank named Sean Fulp executive managing director of the western region. He will be responsible for leading a team that will grow NGKF's presence in all western markets with a primary focus in California.

Fulp was previously the managing director of Rockwood Real Estate in Northern California, where he was also the head of western US investment sales. He began his career at Cornish & Carey Commercial Newmark Knight Frank, which was recently absorbed by NGKF.

Fulp's return is welcomed by Chuck Seufferlein, who will become the president of NGKF's western region, and James D. Kuhn, president of NGKF.


JLL Adds Investment Sales Broker Wellschlager in Baltimore

Jay Wellschlager has joined Jones Lang LaSalle's Mid-Atlantic capital markets team in Baltimore as a managing director, where he will focus on office and industrial investment sales in the Baltimore/Washington region.

Wellschlager joins JLL from Cassidy Turley, where he was responsible for marketing and closing more than $2.1 billion in property sales over the past five years. He holds a Master's Degree in finance from Loyola College.


Evans Joins Newmark Grubb Knight Frank

Peter Evans has joined Newmark Grubb Knight Frank as a director of management services in the firm's Boston office.

A former principal of Direct Invest, Evans previously managed its portfolio-wide leasing efforts and broker dealer relationships for the past nine years.

Earlier in his commercial real estate career that spans 21 years, he served as the director of leasing for The Archon Group, where he oversaw the leasing of approximately 22 properties totaling 2.8 million square feet of space.


Edge Commercial Adds Pedersen as Senior Associate

EDGE Commercial Real Estate appointed Erik Pedersen to senior associate in its advisory group.

Pedersen will join EDGE's landlord and tenant advisory teams with a focus on business development and providing comprehensive, high quality services to the company's existing client base.

Prior to joining EDGE, Pedersen worked as a corporate real estate advisor for Jones Lang LaSalle and has experience working in sales for various companies, including Oldcastle, one of the world's largest construction materials companies, where he managed its national home center business in New England.


Zarate Joins Sperry Van Ness South

Tristan Zarate has joined Sperry Van Ness South as a senior advisor with the firm's industrial property group in Miami, FL. He will focus on the Airport West Industrial submarket.

Zarate was previously at Metro 1 Properties, where he worked with South Florida’s most active industrial real estate markets including Airport West, Doral, Hialeah, and Medley. His career also includes positions assisting Academica, a national charter school, in the acquisition of a $2.3 million warehouse. He has also held positions in banking, consulting, and international trade firms, and has worked as a business strategy advisor on behalf of numerous global corporations, including Wal-Mart, Fed Ex, Boeing, Bechtel, Nucor Steel, Microsoft, and Apple.


New Company: Former Thomas Properties Execs Launch New Investment Advisory Business

Thomas Ricci, Randall Scott and John Sischo, three executives at the former Thomas Properties Group, Inc., have joined with Charles Toppino, founder of Oak Pass Capital to form Coretrust Capital Partners, LLC (CCP).
