BOSTON
Rappaport, Zuker Form CHR Investors in Boston
By Laurie Forbes

Veteran brokers Jerome “Jerry” Rappaport Jr., Ed Zuker and his son Robert Zuker formed CHR Investors, a New England multifamily property investment firm based in Boston, MA. The company is an affiliate of Chestnut Hill Realty, a full-service developer, owner and operator of apartment communities. Ed Zuker heads Chestnut Hill Realty as CEO.

Rappaport will serve as managing director and work with the Chestnut Hill Realty acquisitions team to identify strategic growth opportunities and pursue off-market investment targets.

“Among the people we’ll be approaching are retiring apartment owners that Ed Zuker and I met 25 years ago through the Rental Housing Association and our fight for private property rights,” said Rappaport.

He has three decades of real estate investment, development and fund management experience. Rappaport co-founded New Boston Fund in 1992 and for 18 years led the firm in its creation of eight real estate equity funds that raised more than $1 billion in discretionary equity. For the past two years he consulted with Chestnut Hill Realty. Rappaport is also a founding co-chairman of the Commonwealth Housing Taskforce and past president of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board.

BOSTON
Suburban Brokerage Team Signs On With JLL
By CoStar Research

A team of five suburban leasing brokers headed by Matthew Daniels (pictured) has left Colliers International and signed on with Jones Lang LaSalle.

Joining Daniels, who was named managing director, are Christopher Lawrence and Brian Tisbert, both named senior vice presidents, and Christopher Decembrele and Andrew Whipple, both named vice presidents.

The move is a homecoming of sorts for Daniels who previously worked for Jones Lang LaSalle. JLL Managing Director and leader of New England Leasing Bill Barrack said the additions would make a stronger presence for the firm in the Boston suburbs.

Last week, Jones Lang LaSalle landed the office leasing listing for the new Quincy Center, an urban redevelopment project comprising 3.5 million-square-foot, mixed-use space in downtown Quincy being developed by Beal/Street-Works, a partnership between The Beal Companies and Street-Works Development.

The $1.6 billion redevelopment plan is a private/public partnership with the City of Quincy. Plans call for up to five new office buildings, approximately 700,000 square feet of retail, two new hotels, 1,400 residential units, and multiple new parking garages providing 5,000 public parking spaces.
