Jones Lang LaSalle Hires Tenant Specialist as SVP
The South Bay office of Jones Lang LaSalle tapped former attorney Janice Cimbalo as senior vice president. The tenant advisor has 11 years of experience representing office clients with space requirements, and uses her legal background to negotiate complex transactions like incentive negotiations for national clients. She will join Tom Turley, Jordan Kissel, Rob Kirner and Chris Jicha who work on office leasing and with public institutions in the greater Southern California area.
Cimbalo was senior director, brokerage services at Cushman & Wakefield's Los Angeles downtown office and a tenant advisor working with corporate users while at Studley. Before that she spent seven years as an attorney litigating cases related to real estate, corporate, international, antitrust, bankruptcy, product liability and medical malpractice law. Cimbalo is also a co-author of Cut it Out
, a book on creative solutions to reduce facilities expenses.
Her commercial real estate client list includes: The City of Long Beach, CA, 21st Century Insurance, LodgeNet Interactive Corp., First Regional Bank, International Rectifier and World Poker Tour. She continues to work with SCAN Health Plan in the development of SCAN’s “Office of the Future.”
Cimbalo's outside activities include: president of the board for the Corporate Real Estate Council of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA); CORENET Global, through which she has received her Masters of Corporate Real Estate; program director for the Organization of Women Executives; and a founding member of Executive Real Estate Women.
She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and economics and a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of California at Irvine. She earned her juris doctorate from Pepperdine University and is a member of the state bars of California and Tennessee.

Urban Land Institute Names Phillips as CEO
The Urban Land Institute appointed Patrick L. Phillips as chief executive officer. Phillips, the president and CEO of ERA AECOM (formerly Economics Research Associates) and a trustee of ULI, has 20 years of experience in economic analysis of real estate and land use. He’s managed the organization, strategy, business development and service delivery of ERA for the past 16 years. He’s also consulted on private investment and public policy. Phillips has been an active member with ULI for more than 20 years.
“ULI is clearly the premier research and education organization involving land use. I am thrilled to take on the responsibility for leading an organization that provides such an unbeatable combination of intellectual content and member service,” said Phillips.
He starts his new leadership position on September 14.

Strasmann Named Managing Director at Voit

Kurt Strasmann was brought on as managing director for Voit Real Estate Services' Anaheim Metro Commercial Brokerage office. He will take the lead with the planned expansion into Inland Empire with a new office in that area.
Strasmann spent twenty-four years with Grubb & Ellis, covering the Orange County, Inland Empire and San Gabriel Valley region. He most recently served as the firm's executive vice president and managing director.
Strasmann holds a bachelor's degree in political economics from the University of California, Berkley.
Hamilton Joined MDRE Equities

Timonium, MD-based MDRE Equities LLC, a full service commercial real estate firm specializing in brokerage, asset management and consulting, hired John Hamilton as a senior vice president. He was previously at Corridor Reznick.
Hamilton's specializes in sales and leasing with a focus on high technology companies involved in life sciences, health care, environmental sciences and information technology in the Baltimore/Washington and Pennsylvania markets.

Winoker Realty Hires Managing Director, 2 Associate Directors

In New York City, Winoker Realty Co. hired Evan Lieberman as managing director, as well as Howard Epstein and Alex Fazio as associate directors.
With 20 years industry experience representing both tenants and landlords throughout the Fashion District, Lieberman will continue to assist former clients while helping to expand Winoker's existing portfolio of Fashion District accounts. Lieberman most recently worked for three years at Empire NYC and prior to that, spent 17 years with Millenium Realty in Manhattan. Lieberman has assisted with hundreds of fashion-related lease transactions involving multiple expansions and relocations, including the representation of Andrew Sport, Ecko Unlimited, Sean John and many others.
Epstein will assist both landlords and tenants, particularly in the fashion districts of Manhattan, while Fazio will focus on tenant representation services.

Platt Leaving Roundtable for U.S. Green Building Council

Roger Platt, the long-serving senior vice president and counsel of the Real Estate Roundtable, is joining the U.S. Green Building Council, the nonprofit group that created the LEED sustainability rating for buildings.
Platt, a USGBC board member, was named senior vice president of global policy and law, a new position that begins next month.
At Real Estate Roundtable, a lobbying group representing members with more than $1 trillion of commercial real estate holdings, Platt handles outreach to Congress, the Obama administration and federal agencies. He has a long record of advancing energy, sustainability and climate change policy issues, pioneering Roundtable collaborations with the Clinton Climate Initiative, National Resources Defense Council, Environmental Defense Fund, the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
His role at USGBC will include global outreach and policy and legal work, areas that are evolving rapidly as green building becomes more mainstream.
Platt has been with Real Estate Roundtable and its predecessor, National Realty Committee, for 15 years. He previously served as a consultant to former President Clinton’s Corporation for National and Community Service, and as an associate at the San Francisco law firm Coblentz, Cahen, McCabe & Breyer.
