It's time to update those contact managers with CoStar's People of Note, reporting news on significant new CRE hires and promotions. Bertke to Direct CBRE's Asset Services in Eastern U.S.

Norman Bertke is rejoining CBRE as executive managing director of the firm's asset services division, where he will be responsible for directing the East Region’s operations.

Bertke was formerly director of corporate real estate, facilities, and space management for Huntington National Bank in Columbus, OH, where he will be based. Before taking that position, he served as the leader of CBRE’s asset services operations in Columbus and Cincinnati from 2005 to 2009.

In other changes to its asset services leadership team, CBRE said that Sam Delisi will direct its premier properties initiative under the strategic accounts group, and Rob Roy will take over management oversight of markets in the Southeast U.S. Bobby Peddicord, based in Los Angeles, will continue to lead CBRE’s asset services west division.


Solarz Rejoins Eastern Consolidated

Ron Solarz has rejoined Eastern Consolidated at an executive managing director and principal in the firm's New York City office. In his new role he will continue to represent institutional investors, hedge funds and private owners.

With almost three decades of commercial real estate experience, Solarz has arranged more than $6 billion in the sale and acquisition of commercial property throughout the five boroughs, including more than 90 development sites. His notable transactions include the $210 million sale of 240 E. 27th St., the $110 million sale of 28 E. 10th St., the 99-year net lease of a residential development site, and the $125 million land sale for a residential development at 160 W. 62nd St.

Solarz originally joined Eastern Consolidated in 1994 until he left as a principal in 2011, during which time he received numerous industry awards and honors. In the interim he was at Brookfield Office. Before that he served as president of Solarz Realty.

Colliers International Adds Gobeille

Colliers International tapped Paul Gobeille as a senior vice president in its Detroit office.

Gobeille will focus on industrial and commercial real estate with a concentration on the I-96 corridor, which includes Novi, Wixom, Brighton, Howell, and the surrounding communities.

A 30-year commercial real estate veteran, Gobeille comes to Colliers after owning and operating his own energy conservation company and boutique brokerage firm. Additional stops include Lee & Associates, Signature & Associates, and Landmark Commercial Real Estate Services.


NAI Summit Promotes Adams in Allentown

NAI Summit has promoted Mike Adams to senior vice president in its Allentown office in the Greater Lehigh Valley.

Adams, who joined NAI Summit in 2011 as vice president, quickly moved through the ranks. Before that he was a senior vice president at Coldwell Banker Commercial Feist & Feist Realty for 23 years prior to joining NAI Summit.

Adams is a graduate of The University of Maryland College Park and is a member of the NAI Global Industrial Council as well as a two-time winner of the Petruccci Broker of the Year Award. Adams is also a board member of Bethlehem Rotary and Lehigh Valley Industrial Land Recycling.


JLL Taps Shuai as VP in Walnut Creek

JLL expanded its commercial platform with the hiring of Eddie Shuai as a vice president in the firm's Walnut Creek office.

A 10-year commercial real estate veteran, Shuai has been involved in more than 1.2 million square feet of office and industrial transactions, working with such clients as Blue Bottle Coffee, Goodwill Industries, Menlo Logistics, Broadreach Capital Partners, DCT Industrial, and MWest. Prior to joining JLL, Shuai worked at the Oakland office of Cassidy Turley, which he joined from Oakland-based Clorox Co. in 2004.

Shuai earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado and studied at the University of Virginia's Lipsey School of Real Estate at the Darden School of Business.


Hardy Promoted to VP at HAP Investments

New York City-based international real estate investment and development company HAP Investments LLC has promoted Ryan Hardy to vice president of design and construction.

Prior to being promoted, Hardy held the position of project manager at HAP, responsible for overseeing the design and construction of the firm's residential projects. Before joining HAP, Hardy was a project manager for the U.S. General Services Administration, where he managed development professionals on numerous federal construction projects.

Hardy holds a bachelor's of architecture degree from Iowa State University and a Master's Degree in real estate from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a licensed architect, and a LEED Accredited Professional.


Knorr Joins Johnson Capital

Richard Knorr has joined Johnson Capital as a vice president with the firm's Southern California team in Irvine, CA. In his new role, Knorr will advise commercial property investors in the acquisition of debt and equity financing.

With more than 12 years of industry experience, Knorr has been recognized as a top producer for regional commercial banks and credit unions, placing debt and equity on commercial and multifamily properties throughout Inland Empire and across the country, specializing in transactions ranging from $1 million to $20 million.

Knorr most recently served as managing partner at IBC Capital, a commercial mortgage brokerage firm, where he structured permanent debt financing, equity placements, and bridge and construction loans for all property types. He is active in the Mortgage Bankers Association and sits on multiple regional chambers of commerce.


Transwestern Welcomes Shields in Phoenix

Andrina Shields has joined the Phoenix office of Transwestern as a vice president of multifamily investment services. She will work with the team of multifamily brokers to assist owners with operations, analysis, value-add opportunities, and the revitalization of troubled assets.

A co-founder of Heads on Beds, a consultancy group advising the owners of multifamily properties on adding value to their holdings, Shields brings more than 25 years of industry experience.

Shields previously served as a regional manager at Alliance Residential, where she oversaw the operation of 3,500 units for multiple owners. After that she served as a regional manager for Gray Clow Residential Development Group, and most recently held the title of vice president at Heers Management.


Newlands Joins Studley as Managing Director

Craig Newlands, CCIM has joined Studley in the firm's West Los Angeles office as a managing director. In his new role, Newlands will continue to provide tenant and sales representation services throughout the Los Angeles area.

Newlands joins Studley after 12 years with Coldwell Banker Commercial WESTMAC, where he focused on helping clients in Los Angeles with their office and retail investment sales and leasing needs, most recently as an executive vice president.

A member of Urban Land Institute (ULI), Newlands earned his Master's Degree in chemistry from UCLA and his bachelor's degree from the University of St. Andrews.


Hrubes Joins DTZ in STL

Matt Hrubes, CCIM has joined DTZ in Saint Louis, MO as a managing director.

In his new role, Hrubes will help the firm expand its services to include landlord representation in the market.

Hrubes previously worked at Balke Brown Transwestern for last five years, where he specialized in landlord and tenant representation. He also spent time working at both Duke Realty Corporation and Colliers Turley Martin Tucker.


Charles Dunn Taps Zonta as Senior Director

Lou Zonta has joined Charles Dunn Co. in the West Los Angeles office as a senior director, brokerage and business development.

In his new role, Zonta's prime focus will be active brokerage and related business development activities throughout the western region.

Zonta's previous experience includes consulting with firms such as MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions and Swinerton Builders. He also acted as vice president, business development at Graham Construction and as business development executive at Ledcor Construction. Zonta previously served as a vice president at NAI Norris Beggs & Simpson, and as a broker with Cushman & Wakefield.


Leith Joins ARA as Managing Broker

Marty Leith has joined ARA Real Estate Investment Services as a managing broker in the firm's Seattle office. He will partner with Gail Neuburg on the ARA Northwest team. In his role, Marty will provide clients with investment advisory services in the Seattle market.

Leith brings 14 years of multifamily brokerage experience to this position, and has more than $750 million of assets for both institutional and private investors. He most recently held the title of associate partner at Hendricks & Partners, and before that was at GVA Kidder Mathews.

"We are excited for Marty to join the ARA Northwest team," said Neuburg. "His strong relationships and market knowledge will bolster ARA’s Seattle presence and provide synergy in all of ARA’s West Coast markets."


Schwartz Joins Cushman & Wakefield's Capital Markets Grp

Andrew Schwartz has rejoined Cushman & Wakefield of New Jersey, Inc. as a director in the firm's metropolitan area capital markets group. Based in the firm's Morristown, NJ office, Schwartz will focus on middle-market investment transactions.

Schwartz is rejoining the firm where he started his career as a broker in industrial sales and office leasing back in 1985. He worked there for eight years before heading to Wall Street and the financial services industry, most recently with Abel Noser for the past 11 years. Before that he was a financial adviser for Morgan Stanley.

"Over the years, I have always maintained a great interest in real estate, primarily as a principal," said Schwartz, who is a graduate of Rice University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.


Advanced Realty Continues Strategic Growth Plan

Advance Realty of Bridgewater, NJ has hired Barry Quiner as the director of asset management, and has promoted Rick Zack to managing director of property management.

Quiner will be responsible for the development and execution of enhancements to Advance Realty’s current portfolio and acquisition pipeline. Prior to joining Advance, he spent seven years as the owner of Path of Growth, a real estate investment consulting business, and beforehand he was a vice president with Prudential Real Estate Investors.

Zack will oversee the management of Advance Realty’s portfolio of assets in the New Jersey and Washington, D.C. Regions. Before he was promoted, Zack was the general manager for the Advance’s Gateway Center in Newark, NJ. Prior to rejoining Advance Realty, Zack was the COO of Precision Building and Construction.
