Technology service provider CoSentry will build a new $31.6 million data center in Lenexa, KS, creating more than 60 jobs.
CoSentry, which provides data center, cloud computing and managed technical services, will purchase 57,517 square feet at 14500 W. 105th St. in the Kansas City suburb. Construction is expected to begin in February.
The Omaha, NE-based company chose the Kansas City region after a two-year analysis of 21 markets that weighed business climate, incentives and power costs, said Doug West, vice president and general manager for CoSentry's south region.

The area is home to more than 300 technology and IT industry related companies, employing more than 65,000 people. Kansas City is a focal point both for long-haul fiber and transcontinental fiber networks, as home to Sprint's world headquarters, major AT&T regional facilities and now the first city in the world to receive Google Fiber.
KCP&L is the largest energy provider in the region and one of the country's most competitively priced energy markets, a critical asset for data centers. The Kansas City Area Development Council, the state Department of Commerce and the Lenexa Chamber and Economic Development Council worked together on incentives to bring CoSentry to the area.
