Catellus, a division of ProLogis that specializes in the redevelopment of former airports, closed military bases and vacated manufacturing sites, has secured Home Depot as an anchor for its Mueller Airport redevelopment project in Austin, TX. Home Depot will open an 148,000-square-foot store at the development.

Covering 711 acres in central Austin, Mueller began vertical development in 2005. Projects currently completed or underway include a Phase I retail center offering 240,000 square feet of retail space with Marshall’s, PetSmart, Best Buy, Old Navy and Bed Bath & Beyond; a 470,000-square-foot children's hospital; an 150,000-square-foot pediatric research facility; an 127,000-square-foot medical office building; Phase I residential including 350 single family and 442 multifamily homes; an 156,000-square-foot Seton Family of Hospital corporate headquarters; and an extensive network of parks and public greenways.

The Home Depot store will be built using a variety of sustainable design techniques and technologies, including locally-sourced materials, extensive recycling of construction waste and energy-efficient lighting, heating and air conditioning systems.

Catellus' pledge for the entire Mueller project is to ensure that every building at the site incorporates sustainable design.
