Cabela's, Inc. (NYSE: CAB
), a retailer famous for its hunting, fishing, camping and outdoor gear, will open a new store at Magnolia Park in the spring of 2014.
The 100,000-square-foot store, to be located on Woodruff Road at the junction of I-385 and I-85 in Greenville, SC, will be the retailer's first venture into The Palmetto State. Magnolia Park is a newly redeveloped shopping center, currently expanding under the hand of Menin Development. The center is already home to Costco, Regal Cinemas, Rooms to Go, Chedars, and other retailers and restaurants.
"South Carolinians are part of an exceptional outdoor tradition and share the Cabela’s lifestyle and values. We wanted to build a store in the Greenville area to recognize that," said Cabela’s CEO Tommy Millner. "We are also excited about the opportunity to expand our retail footprint in the Southeast."
The store will employ nearly 235 employees in Greenville and the surrounding area. The retailer normally employs experienced outdoor recreationalists who can share their knowledge and passion of the outdoors. The building will reflect Cabela's famous log and stone construction with a large glass storefront. The interior will boast a next-generation layout designed to surround customers in an outdoor experience to include museum-quality wildlife displays, a gun library, bargain cave and indoor archery range.
Cabela's, headquartered in Sidney, NE, currently operates 40 retail stores across the United States and Canada. Along with the newly announced store in SC, Cabela's has plans to open new stores in several states including MN, MI, OH, KY, WI, CO and AK.
