In a major recruiting coup, Jones Lang LaSalle announced it is bringing Boston Redevelopment Authority Chief of Staff and Special Counsel James Tierney onboard in March 2014 as market director of New England. In his new role, he will assume a senior leadership position, responsible for the growth and strategic direction of JLL's New England business.
During his time at BRA, Tierney participated in the evaluation of all proposed projects in Boston, the creation of zoning entitlement strategies, the review of institutional master plans and the use of economic incentives to stimulate new development. He also oversaw the City of Boston’s planning and economic development agency's operations and managed and developed BRA's real estate holdings.
"(Jim's) broad experience, unique public/private perspective, strong relationships with investors and developers, and sharp focus on providing real estate solutions will be a great benefit to our New England clients," said David McGarry, managing director of Jones Lang LaSalle. "I am confident that he will create new and exciting opportunities in this time of growth for JLL and our regional office, now and going forward."
Tierney earned his law degree from Boston College. He was a former associate attorney with Holland & Knight and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Compass, Inc.
