BBG Acquires Integra Realty Offices in Portland, Vancouver

Acquisitions Establish Beachhead in Pacific Northwest, Bolster Valuation, Advisory Firm's Presence in West

BBG named former Integra Realty executive Owen Bartels as senior managing director

Dallas-based BBG has acquired Integra Realty Resources (IRR) offices in Portland and Vancouver, WA, bringing aboard a combined 16 professionals to the expanding valuation, advisory and assessment firm.

With the additions, which follow BBG’s acquisition of Integra offices in Sacramento and San Francisco a year ago, the company now has 26 U.S. offices. BBG did not disclose terms of the acquisitions.

BBG, among the largest U.S. pure-play commercial property appraisal firms, also announced the appointment of Owen Bartels, a veteran Pacific Northwest appraiser with experience across all commercial property types, as senior managing director.

Bartels previously served as a senior managing director at IRR, where he oversaw the firm’s strategic initiatives throughout Oregon and southern Washington. Prior to IRR, Bartels worked as certified general appraiser at PGP Valuation (now Colliers International) and as a researcher and financial analyst at Kidder Mathews in Tacoma, WA.

BBG also appointed Phillip D. Hanshew as managing director, and Kathryn S. Skiff as director. Both executives worked at the IRR offices in Portland and Vancouver.

BBG Chief Executive Officer Chris Roach told CoStar News that the firm has searched for some time for an opportunity to expand in the Pacific Northwest.

"We're particularly excited about the depth in the management team and the overall skill set of the appraisal staff," Roach said, adding that BBG's success over the past two years expanding in other western markets allowed the company to fill a glaring hole in the Pacific Northwest.

"We will provide the resources to expand into Seattle from here within the next six to 12 months," Roach said.

BBG is also working on several opportunities in the greater Washington, D.C. market, and expects to announce the addition of another office in that market this summer.

"Recruiting will continue to play a big role in our expansion and growing our market share," he said. "This in a time where there has been so much movement or personnel within the appraisal market."
