Toronto-based Company To Gain 61 Professionals in Triangle Region Through Acquisition

Toronto, ON-based Avison Young agreed to purchase Thomas Linderman Graham Inc., a Raleigh, NC- headquartered
commercial real estate services firm. The deal is scheduled to close by the end of the month. The acquisition will mark AY’s 19th location outside of Canada and add 61 employees to the company’s operations.
Thomas Linderman Graham, which previously did business as Grubb & Ellis|Thomas Linderman Graham, is a provider of integrated real estate services in the Triangle region with offices in Raleigh and Chapel Hill. The company specializes in landlord and tenant representation, asset and property management, investment and building sales and land acquisitions and sales.
AY named nine executives from Thomas Linderman Graham as principals: John Linderman (pictured), former president and COO, Rex Thomas, former CEO, and Jack Graham, Lee Clyburn, William Allen, Arnold Siegmund, Gina Ide and Elizabeth Gates.
Linderman, a 27-year industry veteran, was also named managing director of AY's Raleigh-Durham offices. He will lead the company’s growth and development in the state plus oversee day-to-day operations. Linderman, a former developer, formed Vector Properties in 1994. After two mergers, the firm was branded as Grubb & Ellis|Thomas Linderman Graham, where the senior broker served as its chief.
Thomas, Clyburn, Allen and Siegmund will serve as transaction professionals for AY, while Graham will handle the administrative functions of the team. Ide will oversee property management and Gates will lead research and marketing.
The planned acquisition marks the latest market added to the rapidly expanding real estate service provider. Since April of this year, the company has opened new offices in New York, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Charleston, SC, New Jersey, Detroit, a third office in Los Angeles, and three offices in South Florida last week, in which approximately 30 brokers and support personnel from Flagler Real Estate Services joined the firm.
In a statement announcing the agreement to buy TLG, Avison Young's Chairman and CEO Mark E. Rose said, "Thomas Linderman Graham is team-driven and client-focused, and will help us grow our business throughout the important markets in North Carolina where many key clients--including strategic occupiers, users and global investors--are headquartered."
With the closing of this acquisition, AY will have 40 offices in 33 markets and more than 1,100 real estate professionals across Canada and the U.S.
