Arrival of Southwest Airlines Latest Additions Bringing 800,000 SF to Dallas Campus

Completion of $250M Project Paves Way for Airline's Continued Growth
April 6, 2018
Dallas-based Southwest Airlines began moving into the latest addition to its corporate headquarters: A six-story, 414,000-square-foot office building that will give enough office and training space for 2,200 of the airline’s employees.

This is Southwest Airline’s second recent arrival to its corporate campus in Dallas following the completion of a 380,000-square-foot building with 18 flight simulators that train all of the airline’s pilots.

By adding these two buildings -- a $250 million endeavor -- to the existing 1.4 million-square-foot campus, Southwest Airlines is able to support its growth plans, said Dan Landson, a Southwest Airlines spokesman.

"This definitely adds to our footprint and gives us the room to grow our workforce, and adds the needed capacity to keep up with training our pilots," Landson told CoStar News. "We had simply outgrown our old facility, which only had 10 flight simulators."

The addition of the office building, called WINGS, at 2195 Research Row in Dallas, gives the airline room to run and a place to help house thousands of employees.

In all, Southwest Airlines has roughly 9,000 employees on its corporate campus, with a total of 10,000 employees based in Dallas. The airline’s Dallas campus has grown to 2.2 million square feet with the addition of the office building and the flight simulator building.

The Dallas airline has also recently added a new parking garage for employees with 1,950 parking spaces, as well as a sky bridge connecting the airline’s campus across Denton Drive in Dallas.
