The PBSJ Corp., a national engineering and construction firm, is relocating its headquarters to MetWest One in Tampa. The 15-year, 83,000-square-foot lease is set to commence in January 2010.
The 10-story, 240,320-square-foot office building at 4030 W. Boy Scout Blvd. delivered in February as part of the MetWest International mixed-use development, near Tampa International Airport. Building owner MetLife has achieved LEED Certification for the property. PBSJ joins Skanska USA Building, which took about 20,000 square feet at MetWest One earlier this year.
PBSJ was looking for a new location that would reflect its commitment to sustainability, retain employees and maintain proximity to its clients, noted Chairman and CEO John B. Zumwalt. "MetWest International fit that bill in terms of office space, location, LEED Certification and pedestrian-oriented site design," he said.
PBSJ is relocating from a 99,285-square-foot space at Cypress Commons, also in Tampa. According to Corporate Communications Manager Kathe Jackson, PBSJ has been discussing relocating its Tampa office for over a year.
Company-wide, PBSJ reducing the number of enclosed offices at its various location, said Jackson. Instead, the firm is shifting to a more collaborative, open work environment with common areas and cubicles.
Angela Odell with Taylor & Mathis represented MetLife. Chad Rupp, Chris Butler and Bryan Rodriguez with Jones Lang LaSalle Americas represented PBSJ.
MetWest One is the first of three new office buildings at MetWest International. When complete, the mixed-use campus will feature more than 1 million square feet of office space, as well as a 74,200-square-foot retail village, a 260-room hotel and 254 residential units.
