October 26, 2009
Walgreen Co. (NYSE, NASDAQ: WAG) has agreed to acquire the assets of 12 Eaton Apothecary pharmacies in the Boston area from D.A.W., Inc., a subsidiary of Nyer Medical Group, Inc. (NASDAQCM: NYER). The transaction is valued at approximately $19 million.

Walgreens plans to keep "most" of the pharmacies open. It will close three of the stores, according to thebostonchannel.com.

According to Eaton's website, the company currently has 18 pharmacy locations in operation. However, its ownership group, DAW, which is a subsidiary of Nyer Medical will dissolve after the transaction closes.
